Marvel’s ‘New Warriors’ Adds Keith David

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Marvel’s Freeform comedy New Warriors has added Keith David in a recurring role on the upcoming series.

David previously worked with New Warriors showrunner Kevin Biegel on FOX’s Enlisted. The actor joins the cast led by Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) as Squirrel Girl and Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Mister Immortal in the series about six young people with powers living and working together.

David is set to play the character of Ernest Vigman who has been described as a caustic municipal employee who butts up against the hopeful energy of the new warriors. New Warriors is one of the two new Marvel shows that is coming to Freeform in 2018, with Cloak & Dagger set to premiere early next year.

The series stars Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us), Derek Theler (Baby Daddy), Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People), Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally), Matthew Moy (2 Broke Girls) and Kate Comer (The Comeback). Here’s the official synopsis:

“Marvel’s New Warriors” is about six young people with powers living and working together.  With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world… Even if the world isn’t ready.  Not quite super, not yet heroes, “Marvel’s New Warriors” is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once — except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.”

Marvel’s New Warriors premieres on Freeform sometime in 2018.
