Matt Damon Talks Ben Affleck’s Decision To Play Batman

Back in 2013 when Ben Affleck was announced as Batman most of the world became distraught. Some began to ask “Why would Affleck play Batman after failing as Daredevil?”. Affleck, on numerous occasions, stated his doubts when he was approached and that Zack Snyder’s take on “An older more weary Batman” convinced him to put on the cowl. There appears to be a different take on Afflecks story coming from his close pal Matt Damon.

In a recent interview with MTVThe Martian star states:

I talked to him about it. It was a big decision, He knew what the stakes were. Once he was able to get Chris Terrio to write the script, I think that made the decision for him. Chris is a fantastic writer and Ben really liked Zack [Snyder], who’s directing, and it was like, ’well, I’ve got all the pieces that are necessary.’

It seems that Affleck kept some of the details quiet, which is completely understandable from a business perspective. Although we’ve only seen a preview of what seems to be a strong script in the Comic-Con trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, we can only hope its even stronger on the big screen. You can check out more of Damon’s interview below.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Hits Theaters March 25th, 2016!
