In a rare move Matt Ryan will be reprising his role from the now cancelled NBC show Constantine on the upcoming fourth season of Arrow. This has been rumored to happen for some time, but no one was quite certain whether or not something like this would happen on the show.
This was confirmed at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour and should come as a joyful surprise to many seeing that Constantine had a small but loyal following that tried to bring the failed show back to the air with no avail. Constantine will appear on one episode this season. Both of these shows are based upon DC comics, so it only makes sense to have them crossover at some point.
When the show was cancelled Stephen Amell mentioned that he would love to have Constantine crossover into Arrow at some point if Netflix didn’t pick up the show for another season. This obviously didn’t happen, but Constantine will live on through at least this small appearance on Arrow.
The President of CW, Mark Pedowitz, stated that,
This should be enthusiastic news for fans of both of these shows and for fans of DC comics seeing that John Constantine is a character that exists within the same universe as every other DC character. Season four of Arrow is said to explore magic, so having Constantine appear on the show is only fitting.
Matt Ryan also made a video response to this news. You can see it here:

UPDATE: In a statement made by the CW some more details have come out about the episode.
John Constantine will appear on the 5th episode of the new season titled, “Haunted”. The network gave a description of the episode:
Executive Producer, Marc Guggenheim, stated:
Arrow returns on October 7th.
