Matthew Vaughn Would Be ‘Happy’ To Direct A ‘Man Of Steel’ Sequel

Man of Steel 2 Matthew Vaughn Sequel Director SupermanWith his new film, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, hitting cinemas soon, director Matthew Vaughn has been doing his fair share of promotional press. As a result, superhero fans got some interesting information out of the director when he confirmed he has been in talks with Warner Bros. about taking on the sequel to Man of Steel.

While speaking recently to Uproxx about the Kingsman sequel, Vaughn had this to say about the prospect of directing the next Superman solo outing:

Well, if I do [direct Man of Steel 2], I’ll be happy as well. It’s an honor to even have had a discussion. So, they’re probably freaking out that I’ve even mentioned it. But, yes, we’ll see. Who knows what will happen in my life, that’s for sure.

Vaughn has previously spoken about wanting to direct a “feel-good, heroic” take on Superman and has been a popular choice among many fans to helm the sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel. It wouldn’t be the director’s first foray into the superhero genre, having previously directed the much-loved X-Men: First Class.

Superman will next return to the big screen in Justice League this November.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League will be released in theaters on November 17, 2017.
