Jeph Loeb Comments On Possible ‘Cloak & Dagger’ Crossovers With Other MCU Properties

Cloak & Dagger MCULast weekend Marvel debuted the pilot for their upcoming series Cloak & Dagger, which will air on Freeform, at this year’s SXSW Festival. The first reactions to the series were very positive and praised the series leads, Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph, who will portray Tandy Bowen (Dagger) and Tyrone Johnson (Cloak) respectively. While the series feels very different from other entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the inclusion of the Roxxon Energy Corporation in the film’s first trailer made it clear that this was very much a piece of the MCU. With Marvel now introducing a number of properties into the MCU aimed at younger audiences, could we see a Cloak & Dagger crossover with Runaways or even the upcoming New Warriors?

While speaking on a panel which followed the premiere, the producers and stars of the series hinted that it was indeed possible. However, Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb added that fans shouldn’t expect anything of that sort from the series first season as that it’s about getting to know “this cast, this world, these people.”

On the topic of possible crossovers, much like what The CW has done for their DC properties, could we see Freeform setting up their own corner of the MCU following Cloak & Dagger? Are you going to be checking out Cloak & Dagger when it debuts this summer? Let us know your thoughts on the above in the comments section below.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

The two-hour premiere of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will air Thursday, June 7 at 8 pm EST/PST on Freeform.

10 Marvel Villains Who Should Appear In The ‘Black Panther’ Sequel

Previous1 of 11

Marvel Black Panther Chadwick BosemanMarvel’s Black Panther is still taking the box office by storm, but that isn’t stopping people from talking about what they want from the sequel. King T’Challa and the rest of Wakanda’s most interesting characters are set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, but that movie will focus on Thanos and the Infinity Gems instead of seeing how Black Panther’s world has evolved. Not only does the Black Panther sequel have to follow up on multiple plot points hanging around on this movie, but it also needs to introduce new villains for T’Challa and his advisers to take on.

In order for him to continue growing and become more comfortable in his leadership position, T’Challa needs to be challenged in unique ways. Part of what made Killmonger such a unique villain is that he had a personal motivation that directly challenged T’Challa’s world view, and that idea can easily be replicated and expanded upon for the sequel. Black Panther has a very specific perspective on the world, and all of these villains will come in and force him to look at things in a different way as well as challenge him physically.
