Last year, Michael Douglas, who played Hank Pym in the Ant-Man film, teased that he was potentially returning for the sequel as he was in negotiations with Marvel. It appears that it all worked out as Douglas shared on his Facebook page today that he is officially returning for Ant-Man and The Wasp.
Back in 2016, Douglas spoke with Collider about the great experience he had on the first film when he was first talking being in negotiations to reprise the role of Hank Pym.
“I just got a call recently – they want to negotiate for a sequel and I thought “That’s great!” Hopefully, I won’t have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one but I had a wonderful time doing it. Just a great, great time. The cast was fantastic. Paul, Evangeline, Michael Pena – I’m sure he’ll be back. If they can scrape Corey Stoll off the wall, I’m sure they’ll want him too – he’s such a good villain. And Peyton too. It was a lovely experience, so you know, I welcome it. I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018. Ya know, it’s hard to conceive of that, but it’s all good, all the way around, it’s all good.”
Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp and Michael Peña as Luis, is set to come out in theaters on July 6, 2018. Ant-Man is out on Blu-Ray and DVD, as well as streaming on Netflix.
