Michael Fassbender is no stranger to sci-fi and geek favorite film franchises. Having played a young Erik Lensherr/Magneto in Fox’s X-Men film series and an android named David in Ridley’s Scott’s Alien prequel Prometheus, Fassbender’s next entry in the sci-fi genre will be a live-action adaptation of the popular video game series Assassin’s Creed. While promoting the film, Fassbender spoke with MTV.com where he revealed that he had once been up for a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Fassbender confirmed that he was one of several actors who discussed the possibility of taking on a role in The Force Awakens with director J. J. Abrams.
“We talked about a role. We had a conversation. I’m pretty sure I was busy doing something else in the summer he was kickstarting that.”
Fassbender does not appear to have any regrets about missing out on a role in the beloved Star Wars franchise, telling MTV.com that he “absolutely” enjoyed watching The Force Awakens as a fan.
For now, fans can only speculate on which role Fassbender was being considered for, though on a personal note, he would have made a great General Hux.
Assassin’s Creed is now playing in theaters!
