Michael Rooker has quickly risen to fame within the comic book community with his work on AMC’s The Walking Dead as Merle and in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy as Yondu. While attending Heroes & Villains convention in Atlanta, Rooker was asked about how his character would deal with the introduction of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) on The Walking Dead.
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is the younger brother of Merle and Rooker explained that it would be painful to see his brother going through this type of treatment by Negan.
“Well if you call yourself Negan and you listen to what he’s saying then everything’s cool! But I don’t know if Merle would actually enjoy seeing his friends being abused, it’s a tough one since he’s so stubborn!”
Rooker can be seen next in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 reprising his role as Yondu. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has just over two weeks left of filming and will be released on May 5th, 2017, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
