Michael Rooker On Yondu’s Relationship To The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’; Talks ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Appearance

When the Guardians of the Galaxy return next summer, they may be bringing a new ally with them. While Yondu the Raveger was introduced to audiences as the surrogate father of Peter Quill, the two characters parted on bad terms after Quill betrayed him and delivered the Orb to the Nova Corps despite promising it to Yondu. However, footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 suggests that if Quill and Yondu have not made amends, they will at least unite for a common purpose in the highly anticipated sequel. Star Michael Rooker spoke with Comicbook.com where he discussed Quill and Yondu’s relationship and teased a possible appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.

When asked about Yondu’s potential alliance with the Guardians, Rooker explained Yondu’s relationship with the team will be complicated.

“There’s always a little grey area, and grey area is fun to do too.”

Rooker was asked if he would be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. Comicbook.com reports:

[…] the actor kept mum. He said he could do neither, so fans may still see the alien cameo in the action-packed ensemble.

On the other hand, Rooker was not so secretive about his enthusiasm for Yondu’s new look.

“I’m just as blue as before, and I have a great mohawk. I love the new look. The new mohawk is fabulous.”

Sounds like fans will have to wait a little while longer before learning how well Peter Quill and Yondu are getting along.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released in theaters on May 5, 2017.
