Michael Shannon Elaborates Further On His ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Role

Michael Shannon sure seems to be confusing people with his comments about his role in Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Last month, Shannon totally threw everyone off and confused the internet with his comments about having “flipper hands” in the upcoming film but later went on to claim that he was only joking. Even more confusing is his comments where he directly namedrops Doomsday.

So, just what exactly is Shannon’s role in the film? In an interview with Larry King, the actor commented further and reiterated that he wasn’t serious with the flipper comment and also revealed some new details about his role.

“The pressure that I’m under in this situation sometimes leads me to say silly things like Zod has flippers. It was a false.. red herring, as it were.”

Shannon didn’t stop there and went on to describe his role as a ghost in the film.

“It’s the same thing like in the first one with Jor-El. Russell Crowe’s character is kind of like a ghost. So I guess I’m a ghost, kind of.”

King pressed Shannon further and the actor simply replied with a “Yeah.” When asked if Shannon shared any scene with Bruce Wayne or Batman the actor stated:

“I did not cross paths with Batman, no.”

So, what does this all mean? Well, it does confirm that Shannon is indeed in the film and perhaps has a role which will see him haunting Clark. Also, this doesn’t mean that Zod doesn’t indeed become an incarnation of Doomsday in the film. It just means that perhaps Shannon didn’t actually work on those scenes or perhaps Doomsday solely ends up interacting with Superman in the film.

We’ll have to wait and see just how big Shannon’s role is in Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice when the film hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
