When the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hit the Internet, fans analyzed every frame, including seeing Mon Mothma returning to the Star Wars universe. From the trailer, it was unknown if this would be a cameo or a critical character within the story.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke with Entertainment Weekly and explained that Mothma will have a larger role in Rogue One compared to Return of the Jedi.
“We actually see quite a bit of her. The Rebel alliance is in disarray. Pretty panicked. Up against it. And she is trying the best she can to provide the leadership, in amongst a wide variety of Rebel soldiers that have very differing opinions as to what to do.”
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been making headlines for weeks surrounding reshoots of the film but it appears that the marketing push is back on. Entertainment Weekly has just released a stand-alone cover for Rogue One and has new details surrounding the project.
The biggest detail of all being that Darth Vader is back and James Earl Jones will be returning to voice Vader.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forrest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Jonathan Aris, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will come to a galaxy near you on December 16.
