Some of the footage that we’ve seen so far from Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has made it very clear that Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne was present at the Black Zero Event during the fight between General Zod and Superman. Obviously, the aftermath of the destructive showdown is what prompts Batman to go after the Man of Steel, so its relevance to the plot of the movie is quite significant, and admittedly, it’s also really cool to see everything from Bruce’s perspective.
However, in a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Henry Cavill confirmed that we’re also going to see the scene play out from another individual’s point of view. That individual is none other than Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, who was likely there during the whole thing, so it’s going to be very interesting to see the villain’s reaction. Here’s what the actor told the magazine:
A fantastic TV spot for the movie debuted the other day, featuring Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Jeremy Iron’s Alfred Pennyworth, with the former explaining why Superman should be eliminated at all costs. Inside the magazine, it’s actually revealed that “Eisenberg’s Luthor and Batman will be in cahoots against this Kryptonian godhead.” Thankfully, they also had a chance to speak with Affleck himself, who discussed the thought process behind his character’s actions:
The most recent trailer for the movie seems to indicate that Lex will be hiding his true self at first, so while Clark “knows who this Lex Luthor chap is,” Cavill notes that his character, “certainly wouldn’t assume that he had any bad intentions” Meanwhile, Affleck says that, “Batman has seen the devastation that comes from aliens hauling on Earth. He thinks Superman’s attracting flies to our planet. He is basically a beacon…” That last part definitely sounds like a nod to the Parademons, don’t you think?
