‘Get Out’ & ‘Stranger Things’ Lead MTV Movie & TV Awards Nominations

Stranger Things Nominations
For the first time this year the MTV Movie Awards will recognize TV shows alongside feature films with a brand new name for the show: The MTV Movie & TV Awards. Now the list of nominees for the ceremony has been released with several fan-favorite films and televisions shows scoring a number of nominations.

Leading in the film category is Jordan Peele’s Get Out, which earned six nominations including Movie of the Year and a Next Generation nomination for lead star Daniel Kaluuya. In second place is Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast with four nominations, including a Best Actor in a Movie nomination for Emma Watson.

In the television category, Netflix’s Stranger Things earned four nominations including Show of the Year and two nods for actress Millie Bobbie Brown in the Best Actor in a Show and Best Hero categories. HBO’s Game of Thrones scored the second most TV nominations including a nod in the Show of the Year category.

The Academy Award winning film Moonlight earned three nominations including Best Kiss for Ashton Sanders & Jharrel Jerome as well as a nod in the newly created category Best American Story.
