Hot on the heels of airing the new trailer for The Mummy reboot at CinemaCon, Universal decided to release a new poster for the monster flick featuring Sofia Boutella’s titular villain and her ultra-creepy double irises.
Recently, it was also revealed that the Mummy was at one point a princess who was promised to be become Pharaoh until that right was denied her. Of course, The Mummy is Universal’s true attempt to kick off a shared monster universe with Russell Crowe playing Dr. Jekyll in the film.
As for when we can expect to see the trailer aired at CinemaCon described as being “met with an incredibly strong positive reaction,” the general consensus is that it may air this Sunday during The Walking Dead. In the meantime, you can check out the new poster for the film below.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The Mummy awakens on June 9, 2017. The film’s cast includes Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Russell Crowe.
