The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Naomie Harris will be joining Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in slaying some legendary monsters come next year – once he’s finished with whatever pops out of that new Jumanji game, of course.
Both actors will feature in the upcoming action flick Rampage, which is based on the beloved arcade game. In the game, the protagonists are a gigantic gorilla, a monstrous lizard transformed by radiation, and a wolf-like creature hopped up on food additives. All three are of titanic proportions, and wreaking destruction throughout cities is the main directive of the game. Sadly, the movie won’t be from the perspective of the oversized animals, but through the eyes of people. Enter Harris and Johnson, who will be playing these mere humans – the ones charged with bringing down the beasts that are causing so much trouble.
Harris will be playing a geneticist, while Johnson will take on the role of the hero sympathetic to the monsters’ plight.
Rampage will reunite producer Beau Flynn and director Brad Peyton, who both worked with Johnson on the 2015 thriller San Andreas.
Harris is fresh off the critically acclaimed film Moonlight, in a role for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, a Screen Actors Guild Award, an Academy Award and a Critics’ Choice Movie Award.
New Line Cinema will produce Rampage, which is currently set for an April 2018 release.
