A few weeks ago, Paramount revealed to the world that they dropped J.C. Chandor’s upcoming film, Triple Frontier. The movie featured an incredible cast including Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy. According to Deadline, Triple Frontier may find new life on the streaming service, Netflix. The outlet also revealed that not one, but two Afflecks are interested in taking on the project.
The outlet reported that some “promising” talks are happening between the creative team of Triple Frontier and Netflix. In addition to Casey and Ben Affleck signing on, Deadline reports that Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) could join the film as well. This would mark three Oscar winners in one Netflix project. In recent months, Netflix has been dominating the film industry; if you may remember, the service also picked up Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman which is set to star Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino, Bobby Cannavale and Harvey Keitel.
What do you guys think about this? Are you optimistic for the new project? As of right now, Netflix’s original films have not been the best – with a few exceptions, like Beasts of No Nation – but with Scorsese’s The Irishman and Brad Pitt’s War Machine set to drop in the next 12 months, the service is certainly on the way up.
Triple Frontier has no release date.
