New Details On ‘Suicide Squad’ Reshoots; Jai Courtney Comments On Purpose

A few weeks ago, word broke that Suicide Squad would be undergoing some reshoots, and rumors began to point at it being because of the need to “add more humor” to the film following the bleak and humorless experience that was Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Now actor Jai Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang in the film, also comments on the reshoots, which hopefully rests some worries on the matter:

When asked if the reason for the reshoots is because of a need for more humor, the actor disregarded the notion and sated that “there is some additional action stuff that we are doing.”

Along with the new comments from Courtney, we now have some new details on how long the shoots are intending to be:

Now it definitely seems like we may be getting slightly different info here. On one hand, we have actor Jai Courtney saying the reshoots are not about humor but rather they are to add a new action sequence, but now we have reports that the reshoots are to add a bit of levity to the film and remove some unwanted scenes that were deemed “too dark.”

Unfortunately at this point its unlikely to find out the truth of what is actually going on without having some uncensored access to the editing room, but if DC/WB is planning on some changes to improve on the films flow, levity, and action, I’m all for it.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
