I know, I know, I’m just like you: I can’t wait for the seventh season of Game Of Thrones to start either. HBO’s smash hit of a genre drama has been all-consuming for audience and media member alike since it’s inception in 2011, and the ending of season six has left everyone anticipating the show’s next moves.
One of the things we are all most curious about is what is going to come of Daenerys’ newfound power and presumable expansion into the more western frontiers. We know the Iron Throne isn’t exactly totally secured at the moment, despite Cersei’s explosive reaction to the Sparrows in season six’s finale. John Snow is teamed up with Sansa and the pair are determined to put up a fight, and Daenerys has her dragons and hoards of new followers.
So while we might not get any particular plot details for a while, we did get some interesting photos released on Instagram today that might provide some hints at what is to come. Rhys Towey, a developer who works on software in one of the show’s more frequently used sets in Belfast, Titanic Studios, dropped some bombs to our delight.
The first image below seems to show the Iron Throne with a bit of an updated look. It’s mostly the same, but the family Lannister crest of a lion can now be seen heading the throne where the seven pointed star once was displayed. Take a look:
Interesting for sure, though not necessarily surprising.
The next one, though, is the one that is more of a head-turner. It seems to be indicative of a new throne of power, which, if certain rumors are to be believed, is located in Dragonstone, where Stannis Barathean once ruled over the land.
Stannis was, of course, killed, leaving Dragonstone open for business (I mean, the name is Dragonstone…). Could this be a new throne for Daenerys, one to rival the Iron Throne or replace it all together? Only time will tell, but these are some neat photos to tease us with in the meantime.
In the mythical continent of Westeros, several powerful families fight for control of the Seven Kingdoms. As conflict erupts in the kingdoms of men, an ancient enemy rises once again to threaten them all. Meanwhile, the last heirs of a recently usurped dynasty plot to take back their homeland from across the Narrow Sea.
