New York Comic-Con is this weekend and we cannot wait for the fun new things to come out for our favourite upcoming nerdy projects. For Marvel, it’s always been a big time for them to tease their TV projects specifically, leaving the MCU film for SDCC.
This year Marvel Television has 5 shows coming very soon, and top of the list for most excited for is Jessica Jones Season 2. The first season blew many people away with its complex storytelling, strong performances from Krysten Ritter and David Tennant, and its handling of darker themes. Season 2 is expected to be strong and improve on the first season’s faults of side-characters and losing track after Episode 8 or 9.
The upcoming Jessica Jones season, as well as the Season 5 return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the debut seasons of Runaways and Cloak and Dagger were all teased in IGN exclusive art posters that look so gorgeous. Check them out below!
Jessica Jones is probably the most popular of the shows coming, though the success of Runaways and Cloak and Dagger is to be determined, but this doesn’t mean counting out Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. The last season of the long-running ABC Marvel series ended on a puzzling cliffhanger, showing Agent Phil Coulson on a spaceship while his fellow agents were taken away to unknown areas.
The poster for Season 5 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. banks on stars and space as a theme, meaning the whole team could be off on a cosmic adventure, maybe even linking to Guardians of the Galaxy or other cosmic Marvel characters.
Runaways is a highly-anticipated show based on the strong cult audience for the comic books, and the casting for the series is so-far spot-on. The series will premiere on Hulu, and will be mainly aimed for an older-teens, mid-20s range based on the casting and the comic’s themes of adolescence and rebellion.
Cloak and Dagger has been in development for some time, just like Runaways, and is being marketed more towards an older audience, as the source material dealt with homelessness and drug abuse among youths.
Marvel Television is obviously promoting all their new shows heavily and in the right ways to cover up for the unmitigated trainwreck that was the debut of Inhumans on ABC and in IMAX theatres. Let’s just hope none of the upcoming shows are THAT level of bad.
Jessica Jones: Season 2 is set for release on Netflix sometime in 2018. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 5 will debut late this year on ABC after the season finale of Inhumans. Runaways is set to air November 21 on Hulu. Cloak and Dagger will air on Freeform sometime in 2018.
7 Worst Moments In Good Superhero Movies
There happens to be an abundance of good to great comic book films. It’s a medium that can be challenging to adapt for the big screen. Making solid movies while staying true to the material is always challenging and it’s quite a feat when a filmmaker is able to accomplish something like that. Of course, there have been many superhero films that have been successful, but no film is truly perfect. Perfection is an impossible standard to achieve, but greatness is definitely attainable.
With any good or great film, there are bound to be a few bad moments and flaws, and the same can be said for the opposite. Some of these bad moments stick out more than others, but they’re pretty much always there, no matter how good the film is. While it’s easy to overlook these flaws, it’s also important to study them. With that in mind, I decided to write about some of the worst scenes in what are otherwise considered good superhero movies.
