Olivia Munn Was Originally Up For A ‘Deadpool’ Role

A lot of fans were disappointed when they first found out that Olivia Munn would be portraying Betsy Braddock/Psylocke in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, but the actress has slowly managed to make herself a fan-favorite by proving her commitment to the role. However, it turns out that Munn was looking to play another character in the X-Men universe prior to landing the role of the telepathic mutant.

During a set visit, Collider spoke with producer Simon Kinberg, who revealed that the Ride Along 2 star originally auditioned for a role in Tim Miller’s upcoming Deadpool movie. Here’s what he had to say:

Psylocke wasn’t originally the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse. When they felt like they needed a different character, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg decided they wanted it to be female and, after cycling through the different Horsemen landed on Psylocke. Kinberg had just met with Olivia Munn for a role in Deadpool, and so he immediately thought she’d be a good fit.

While the identity of this mystery character was not revealed, it would be safe to assume that she was probably up for the role of Deadpool’s girlfriend, Vanessa Carlyle, who was portrayed by Morena Baccarin. What do you guys think? Sound-off your thoughts in the comment section below.
