It seems Patrick Stewart might be making a return visit to the Star Trek franchise.
Best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard In the long-running Star Trek: The Next Generation and a few of the spin-off films, Patrick Stewart has since moved on to other projects, but still has a place in the hearts of fans of the franchise who will always remember him as the sophisticated, daring captain of the Starship Enterprise. But he could be making a return to franchise very soon in the current series, Star Trek: Discovery.
Set ten years before the events of the classic series, Star Trek: Discovery’s first season ended on a cliffhanger with the crew of the titular ship, Discovery, getting a distress call from the Enterprise itself, currently helmed by Christopher Pike (Anson Mount). Whatever season two may bring is a mystery, but Patrick Stewart might be a guest star in this season, as when asked if he had ever seen the show when being interviewed by Red Carpet News TV, he slyly responded:
“No, I haven’t, but I may have good cause to look at it very soon.”
Does this mean that Jean-Luc Picard will visit the past in season two? And more importantly, does he still like his Earl Grey tea hot?
Discovery is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout, Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers.
