Paul Rudd Discusses His Growing Role As ‘Ant-Man’ In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Last summer, Ant-Man was a big hit for Marvel Studios. We won’t have to wait too long to see the character again though, as he will retun in a few months in the higly-anticipated Captain America: Civil WarSuperhero Hype recently chatted with Paul Rudd about what the future holds for Scott Lang and his ever growing role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When the site asked how it felt to join the cast and continue Ant-Man’s story in the highly-anticipated Captain America: Civil War, Rudd had the following to say on the subject.

I know that when I signed up for it that there was always the potential that they’d do another one or it would tie in in some way, but specifically, I wasn’t aware and I’m still not totally aware of how that’s the case. We are doing a second one, so those meetings are starting to be scheduled and underway as far as what it’s going to be. We’ll start writing it soon.

As for the “we” that he’s referring to, that would be writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari who Rudd will be working with on the script for the upcoming Ant-Man & The Wasp. From the sounds of things, the actor is enjoying his time working with the duo.

It’s been very easy. Marvel’s been great, as far as if I have something else and they’ll work around it. It’s not like I’m working on a series which might be a little trickier as far as schedule. I worked on ‘Civil War’ and I didn’t really work on it for very long, but as far as ‘Ant-Man 2,’ I already know when that’s going to go, so you just kind of plan accordingly. If anything comes along that I can film before or after and it works out time-wise and it makes sense, Marvel’s been supportive.

From the sounds of things, it definitely seems like Marvel Studios has “big” plans for the character in the future and I’d say it’s safe to assume that we will be seeing the character pop up in Infinity War based on Rudd’s comments. What do you think? Are you looking forward to more Ant-Man in the future? Let us know in the comments section below.
