‘Pokemon: Detective Pikachu’ Director Was “Nervous” About The Film

It seems that the director of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu was nervous about the film but was none the less determined to get the film right.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu director Rob Letterman admitted to his nerves regarding the upcoming film. According to the director he was nervous during the film’s premiere but added that he was always nervous.

He then continued by saying that it was important to get the franchise right and even worked with the people in Japan so the could make sure it was right:

I’m nervous right now. I always am nervous. It’s something that people care a lot about; that people grew up on around the world. We put a lot of care and love into making sure it was right. And we worked very closely with the original creators in Japan to make sure we got it right.

From the look of things Pokemon: Detective Pikachu‘s director might be nervous about the film but worked as hard as he could to make it work!

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Directed by Rob Letterman from a script he co-wrote with Dan Hernandez & Benji Samit, Derek Connolly, and Nicole Perlman, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular pocket monster, Justice Smith as Tim, Kathryn Newton as Lucy, and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe as Lt. Yoshida.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu will be released in theaters on May 10, 2019.
