‘Power Rangers’: Lionsgate Aims For 7 Films; New Set Photos Of The Red Ranger

PR

Variety is now reporting that Lionsgate is ready to make up to 7 ‘Power Rangers’ films. This new information comes directly from Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, who during a recent conference call stated:

“We are really, really excited about the ‘Power Rangers’ movie, we could see doing five or six or seven.”

Feltheimer saw the positive reactions to the Power Ranger suits as evidence of interest in the property. In the film the suits will be translucent armor that crystallizes around the Power Rangers bodies, which should be interesting to see on screen. As of right now they look a bit like Iron Man suits, but so long as they don’t limit the mobility of the actors fans will likely be pleased.

Set photos have also made their way onto the internet today. They depict the red ranger battling some CGI enemies and allow us a better look at the practical elements of the Power Ranger suits. These photos can be viewed below:

Dean Israelite is directing the film and the movie stars Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. Elizabeth Banks will play Rita Repulsa.

The story reimagines the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world.

‘Power Rangers’ hits theaters March 24th, 2017.
