‘Power Rangers’ Concept Art Offers First Look At Alpha 5

Everything we’ve seen so far from the new Power Rangers movie has made it clear that it’s taking quite a few liberties with the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, but the latest reveal might just be the weirdest one yet.

IGN has unveiled two new pieces of concept art from the Dean Israelite-directed movie, giving us our first official look at its unique take on Alpha 5, who will be voiced by SNL alum Bill Hader. The new design does share some similarities with the original robot, but this one looks a lot more gritty and organic.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threats. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks, Bill Hader, David Denman, Sarah Grey, Anjali Jay, Patrick Sabongui, Lisa Berry and Emily Maddison.

Power Rangers opens in theaters on March 24, 2017.
