Marvel’s The Punisher will reunite fans with Frank Castle and this time the vigilante will be joined by Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Micro. Though Frank and Micro were a formidable duo in the Marvel comics, fans have been curious to see how the latest Marvel and Netflix series will depict their partnership. In an interview Entertainment Weekly, series star Jon Bernthal shared new details on the relationship between Frank and Micro.
Bernthal discussed how Frank and Micro will be on similar journeys in spite of their very different skill sets:
“Good drama is when you take these hard life characters and force them to interact, and that’s precisely what [showrunner Steve Lightfoot] did with Micro and Frank. He forces these guys who are so unbelievably different, who operate on such different planes, and have such opposite skill sets [together]. Interestingly, they have very similar paths as far as their families, and as far as the predicament they’re in, and they’re sort of forced to work together.”
Initially an ally who provided Frank with weapons and technology, Micro gradually evolved into an enemy of The Punisher. Of course, fans wait until the series arrives on Netflix to see if the partnership of their live-action counterparts suffers a similar fate.
After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.
The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, Deborah Ann Woll, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore, Paul Schulze, Jaime Ray Newman, Michael Nathanson.
While there has been no official word on a release date from Marvel or Netflix, the series has been expected to debut in fall 2017.
