Shannon Purser Comes To ‘Riverdale’ In The Third Episode

Barb Riverdale, Purser
Stranger Things fan-favorite Shannon Purser caused a sensation last summer after the death of her character Barb was hardly acknowledged in the series. Fans took to social media demanding for justice with the hashtag #JusticeForBarb. While The Duffer Brothers have guaranteed Barb is most certainly dead, they have promised there will be some sort of justice for her character in the second season.

So far, Netflix has released Minute by Minute with Brenda Wood, a newscast from the Hawkins news channel which reports on the disappearance of Barb. But only that, plus some form of acknowledgment in season two will have to suffice.

Barb fans aren’t completely out of luck, though, as Shannon Purser is set to guest star in Riverdale, The CW’s upcoming subversive adaptation of the beloved comic book series Archie. The network has released an official synopsis for the third episode titled “Chapter Three: Body Double” which reveals the debut of Purser as Ethel Muggs. “Chapter Three: Body Double” airs February 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Here’s the official synopsis:

THE GIRL WHO CRIED SHOTGUN — After new information surrounding Jason’s death comes to light, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) finds herself under a cloud of suspicion and forced to come clean about the last time she saw her brother. Meanwhile, Archie (KJ Apa) makes a tough decision that puts a major strain on his relationship with Miss Grundy (guest star Sarah Habel).

Elsewhere, Betty (Lili Reinhart) decides to revive the school newspaper and asks for Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) help in investigating Jason’s death, while Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Ethel (guest star Shannon Purser) work on exposing some of Riverdale High’s football players after rumors of a “shame book” begin to circulate.

Finally, after getting grounded by his dad Fred (Luke Perry), Archie must figure out a way to make it to the Taste of Riverdale event where Josie (Ashleigh Murray) and the Pussycats will be performing a song he helped write.

Riverdale premieres January 29, 2017, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

The series stars K.J. Apa, Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Murray, Casey Cott, Marisol Nichols, Luke Perry, and Molly Ringwald.
