After the season 1 finale that featured the shocking shooting of Fred Andrews, Riverdale is set to return right where we left off, with Archie helping his dad to get medical help.
EW has the first look image at the scene from season 2, which you can check out below:
Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says audiences can expect more details on who shot Fred when the show premieres on October 11:
“We don’t know everything that happened in that diner in the finale. In our first episode back in our premiere, we’re back in that diner and seeing everything that happened in that diner with Fred and Archie and that gunman and poor Pop Tate who’s also traumatized by the events. It’s really a psychological exploration of Archie after that as well…We will reveal his fate at the end of episode one. Episode one is almost a special episode. It’s a little bit like the Buffy the Vampire Episode episode ‘The Body.’ It’s structurally a little bit different.”

As the town breathed a collective sigh of relief that Jason’s killer had been found out, another terrible crime occurred, in a space that had been considered one of the town’s safest, most innocent places. If Jason Blossom’s murder revealed the slimy underbelly beneath Riverdale’s surface, as we enter Season Two, the shooting of Fred Andrews threatens to plunge the entire town into utter darkness. Based on the characters from Archie Comics, RIVERDALE is from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with Berlanti Productions, with executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Supergirl,” “Glee”), Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”), Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”) and Jon Goldwater (Archie Comics).
The second season of Riverdale premieres Wednesday, October 11 at 8 pm ET on The CW.
