One of the biggest new hits of the ongoing TV season is the Archie Comics live-action series Riverdale as it joined The CW’s big comic book TV line-up by bringing the Archie Universe to life. With only a few episodes remaining of Season 1, everything is starting to come full circle as we are getting closer to finding out who killed Jason Blossom while also following the lives of the people in Riverdale.
Last week Heroic Hollywood participated in the Riverdale press room where we chatted with the actors and producers behind the show to get some teases about what’s coming up in Season 1 and a little bit about Season 2. We had the pleasure to chat with Camila Mendes and Ashleigh Murray who play Veronica Lodge and Josie McCoy respectively.
Given the musical element on Riverdale, with Archie’s ambition to study music and Josie having her Pussycats band, the actresses were asked what the chances are that we might get a full-on musical episode someday. While Murray hasn’t heard of any discussions yet about doing a musical episode, she definitely enjoys getting to sing on the series, but would love to see a musical episode one day.
“No there haven’t been discussions of doing a musical episode of what I know anyway! Singing on the show is great, I hope that we are able to have more situations like that, specifically with Josie and Veronica…but yes! [on wanting a musical episode].”
More highlights from the full roundtable interview:
-Mendes and Murray on the strong representation of women that the show has like Veronica and Josie.
-Their thoughts on the importance of diversity on the show and how they got pulled towards taking on these iconic roles.
-What they were both thinking when they read the script for the season one finale.
