When it comes to casting within comic book films, it’s not likely that an actor or actress can crossover between properties. Ryan Reynolds is one of the most notable exceptions, playing both Deadpool and the Green Lantern. Flash star Robbie Amell is hoping to become the next exception.
While attending Heroes & Villains convention in Atlanta, Amell explained that he isn’t partial to any side within the comic book universe.
“No, I have no loyalties. They’ve [DC] killed me a couple of times, and I’ll always gladly go back. But, at the same time, I’m a huge fan of Marvel movies. I like what they’re doing. It has less to do with it being Marvel or DC and more just being a character that I’m interested in and speaks to me.”
Amell’s Firestorm was killed off and briefly returned to The Flash during season two to play his Earth-Two counterpart, Deathstorm. In this alternative universe, Deathstorm was still married to Killer Frost, who made her first appearance on Earth-One this season. It seems possible that because of Flashpoint and constantly changing timeline that Amell could be brought back into the CW superhero fold.
Amell doesn’t appear to have the same brand loyalty that Ezra Miller has towards DC. During an event recently, a fan walked up to Miller with a Marvel comic, that appears to be an issue of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., for an autograph, but Miller would not sign it because it was Marvel.
