Robert Pattinson dons Ben Affleck’s Batsuit from Batman v Superman in a cool new piece of fan art that imagines the future of Warner Bros. and DC’s cinematic universe.

British actor Robert Pattinson is the new Batman as the 33-year-old was announced earlier this year to replace Ben Affleck, who brought the character to life in Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad and Justice League. Robert Pattinson is expected to make his debut as Bruce Wayne in The Batman, which is being written and directed by Matt Reeves, the filmmaker behind Cloverfield and War for the Planet of the Apes.

With production on The Batman not expected to commence until 2020, Robert Pattinson is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. Although it’s going to be a while before fans get an official photo of Robert Pattinson in full costume as Batman, new artwork shows us just how the actor could look like with Ben Affleck’s Batsuit from Batman v Superman. What do you think? Are you excited to see Robert Pattinson replace Ben Affleck as Batman? Is Robert Pattinson a good choice to play the Caped Crusader? Sound-off your thoughts in the comments!

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps. Previous rumors once pointed to an earlier version of the script featuring Ben Affleck bookending the film as his current Batman while the film introduced a younger version of the Caped Crusader, played by Robert Pattinson. But with Ben Affleck officially retired from the role, Robert Pattinson is replacing the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League star as Batman.

Details are a slim, but we know The Batman will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and The Penguin. Director Matt Reeves has also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new Batman movie trilogy with Robert Pattinson.

The DCEU continues with Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 arriving on June 5, 2020. A solo Joker movie set outside of the DC Extended Universe with Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters on October 4, 2019.

The Batman opens in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news on Ben Affleck, Robert Pattinson and the future of the DCEU.
