‘Rogue One’ Becomes The Top Movie Of 2016 In UK

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has become the number movie of 2016 in the UK and it only took 17 days to accomplish this. Rogue One took the top spot from the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The UK box office standings are very similar to that of the United States. In the UK, Disney had four out of the top ten releases for 2016 including, Finding DoryCaptain America: Civil War, and The Jungle Book and now Rogue One.

Rogue One will likely hit $700 million by Friday worldwide. We’ll have to wait and see to find out how long it’s going to take until it reaches $1 billion, so keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood for more updates.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,’ an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

The film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Genevieve O’Reilly and Jimmy Smits, with James Earl Jones reprising his voice role as Darth Vader.
