When the latest Star Wars flick flew into theatres last December, audiences responded accordingly. The film recently crossed $800 million worldwide, showing just how strong the brand name is. Sure, it helps when your movie is actually pretty good. However, one of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s biggest talking points was the amount of footage found in the trailers, that ended up being left on the editing room floor. It was a weird scenario, but not one we have not endured before. Sony infamously did this with both The Amazing Spider-Man films, and Marvel Studios has not been shy of doing the same thing. It is common place for studios nowadays, to use intriguing shots just for marketing alone. Rogue One director Gareth Edwards pointed this out in an interview with Empire Magazine, which you can read by clicking here.
Slash Film recently uploaded a bunch of new images from the film, all of which were not found in the final cut. Edwards has ruled out a “director’s cut” or “extended cut,” in the past, but depending on how many fans complain, I could see Disney releasing a different version in the next 12 months. Heck, think of the money it would draw in. You can check out the images below:
Below, we have a ton of behind the scenes/on set images that failed to make their way onto the internet. Disney released some of these earlier, but since the film has been out for a while, they decided to unveil all of them. You can check them out below:
So, what do you guys think of all this? How many times have you seen Rogue One? As I am in Italy (and they’re playing the film in Italian only) I have yet to check it out for a second time. So, on me, go watch the movie again! You can check out Rogue One in theatres now.
