‘Rogue One’ Reaches $800 Million At The Global Box Office

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story cannot be stopped. The Star Wars spin-off movie has passed $800 million at the global box office with $801.9 million. This brings Rogue One’s domestic total to $440.9 million, the second highest-grossing movie domestically for 2016.

Rogue One topped the box office for a third-straight weekend over the New Years holiday. While the film has opened in many territories, it will be opening in China next week, which could likely bring Rogue One over the $1 billion mark. Keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood for more updates.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,’ an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

The film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Genevieve O’Reilly and Jimmy Smits, with James Earl Jones reprising his voice role as Darth Vader.
