RUMOR: ‘Aquaman’ Reportedly Wrapping Production In Australia This Month

Aquaman Movie LogoJames Wan’s swashbuckling action adventure Aquaman may be wrapping up production in Australia at the end of this month.

Production on the sixth installment of the DC Extended Universe has been underway in the land down under since May but is coming to a close in the next two weeks according to The Aquaman Shrine. In addition, the project is apparently foregoing filming on location in Italy as well.

Plot details are still under wraps but the film is expected to follow Aquaman (Jason Momoa) as he goes up against his human half-brother Orm aka Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson). I had the opportunity to see footage from the upcoming film at San Diego Comic-Con which revealed the film will feature Ocean Master’s army. You can read the full description of the footage here.

While fans will have to wait until the holiday season in 2018 to see Mamoa lead the standalone Aquaman, the actor is set to reprise his role as the King of Atlantis this fall in the superhero epic Justice League. The film follows Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) as they attempt to form the Justice League (which includes Momoa as Aquaman) in time to save the Earth from Steppenwolf, the uncle of Darkseid.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Patrick Wilson as Orm a.k.a. Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Ludi Lin as Murk, with Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna and Temuera Morrison as Arthur’s father.

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017, followed by Aquaman on December 21, 2018.

Shazam
Audiences have known that the Rock is playing Black Adam for years, but Shazam (a.k.a. Captain Marvel) still hasn’t been cast. Even though the movie has a director and is set to begin filming early next year, the title role is empty.

Plot details are still essentially non-existent except for the fact that Black Adam will not appear in this movie. Regardless, director David Sandberg, who just finished work on Annabelle: Creations, announced the start of pre-production at the end of August.

Rumors may be swirling online about one actor or another being up for the role, but as of now no one is the designated front runner. This role, which has huge potential to become a major franchise once the character is given a bigger spotlight, is still open for the taking.

With that said, hit Next to find out about 10 actors who should play Shazam!
