Deadline is reporting that Ben Affleck will co-write the next standalone Batman movie with DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns. Affleck will also direct the film after he completes Live By Night, the movie he halted for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Affleck and Johns are so in sync that the script should be ready to turn in by the end of this summer.
Deadline also states that the plot will reflect the Batman that emerges from Batman V Superman and Justice League. DC’s current slate is already so massive with 10 films scheduled, but adding a solo Batman film would be a smart move because Batman movies are DC’s money makers. There isn’t a set date, but based on the priority level the current slate could be changed to add the solo Bat film to the mix.
Although this isn’t an official confirmation, we could get one as soon as Saturday at Warner Bros Hall H Panel during Comic-Con.
