Rumor: ‘Han Solo’ Spin-Off Film Searching For Non-White Female Lead

Casting for the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo spin-off project appears to be underway. Yesterday, The Wrap broke that Lando Calrissian would be appearing in the film alongside Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo. The latest rumor is that the film is in search of a strong female lead, who also represents diversity.

Jeff Sneider, Mashable, reported that the latest rumor. Indicating that a search for a female lead in the movie was down to four actresses, none of whom are white. Could this be the casting for Sana Solo?

Last year the Internet was in an uproar upon the release of the Star Wars #4 comic. In the comic, which was written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by John Cassady, Sana Solo (Sana Starros) was introduced, the wife of Han Solo. Sana is a pilot who has many similar traits to that of Han.

 

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from a script by Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jon, the Han Solo anthology movie is currently set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
