UPDATE: Heroic Holywood Editor-in-Chief and The Wrap Film Reporter Umberto Gonzalez has revealed that this rumor is false. You can check out what he had to say on the matter below.
.@ThatHashtagShow SHAZAM story is not true. There are no frontrunners. Joshua Sasse can’t be a frontrunner bc HE HASN’T EVEN BEEN SEEN YET!

Original story: WWE Superstar John Cena may be making his debut in the DC Extended Universe as the professional wrestler is the current frontrunner to play Shazam in the Billy Batson-centric film.
According to The Hashtag Show, Cena (who is currently filming the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee) is being eyed for the role now that the project is in pre-production and the casting search for both Billy Batson and the adult superhero he transforms into, Shazam, is underway. In addition, Joshua Sasse (Galavant) is also reportedly up for the part of Shazam.
Plot details on Shazam remain under wraps, however, the New Line Cinema production which will be produced in conjunction with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, will not feature Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) as the villain. The film is being directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) from a script written by Henry Gayden.
Shazam is a DC Comics character who first debuted in 1939 with the original name of Captain Marvel. Created by C.C. Beck and writer Bill Parker, the character was first published by Fawcett Comics. Shazam himself is the alter-ego of the aforementioned teenage Billy Batson who has the ability to say the word “Shazam,” and transform into an adult superhero with the power of six mythological gods after saying the word.

Justice League Members Who Should Join The DCEU Next
The Justice League isn’t limited to the six members we saw in Zack Snyder’s film. The team has an expansive roster that features dozens of reserve characters ready to help the Justice League save the world on a moment’s notice.
With movies like the Green Lantern Corps and Shazam in the pipelines, it’s clear more heroes will be introduced to the DC Extended Universe soon. The Avengers featured a small team and it only grew as more characters were introduced into the Marvel movie universe. The Justice League is gonna need all the help it can get to fight Darkseid and keep the streets safe from lower-tier villains like Deathstroke and Joker.
Did I forget to include your favorite Justice League member? Well let me know in the comments why Fire and Firestorm are better choices.
