Following the confirmation that she indeed joined Marvel’s highly-anticipated Doctor Strange, quite a bit of speculation began regarding Rachel McAdams role in the film. Many had assumed that the actress, whose role has been described as a major lead, would be playing the character Clea. Well, according to Latino-Review’s sources, that isn’t the case and she may actually have a much different role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The site states that the actress will actually be playing “Christine Palmer, one of the night shift nurses one from Marvel’s ‘Night Nurse.'”
While many believed thatt, regardless of the name change, Rosario Dawson’s character on Daredevil was actually a version of Linda Carter, that wasn’t actually the case. It was revealed by showrunner Stephen DeKnight that Marvel had kept him from using any reference to Linda Carter, who is the most well known of the Night Nurses, due to the film division having plans for the character on the big screen.
At the moment though, it’s currently unknown why McAdams will play Christine Palmer rather than Linda Carter in the film if true. Plans for the character elsewhere? Or could it possibly be due to the character being a surgical assistant and this is how they are going to tie her to Stephen Strange? This is all currently unconfirmed at the moment but does make quite a bit of sense. It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out if true.
