While we are a whole year away from the release of the eighth installment in the Star Wars franchise, we still haven’t gotten a title for the untitled sequel. However, thanks to AVS Forum, we may now have gotten a name for the next film. Before we continue, we want to stress that you should take this with a grain of salt as it hasn’t been confirmed yet by Lucasfilm or Disney, so for now, take this as a rumor.
According to the site, they discovered that Lucasfilm submitted a recent trademark filing to the European Union Intellectual Property Office. So what is the potential title? Should this be true, Episode VIII would then be titled Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. Given that last year’s installment was called The Force Awakens, it wouldn’t be the craziest title for the eighth film to have.
But for now, this is only a rumor until Lucasfilm or Disney either confirm or debunk it. If it were true, would you like this title? If not, what would you name Episode VIII? Sound off in the comments below.
Rian Johnson’s Star Wars Episode VIII, starring Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, along with Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran, opens in theaters on December 15, 2017.
