RUMOR: Warner Bros. Eyeing Superman Sequel For 2020

Henry Cavill Superman DC Extended UniverseSuperman fans have been hoping to see the Last Son of Krypton back in action for a followup to the 2013 DCEU starter Man of Steel. The latest gossip from the rumor mill may shed some light on the possibility of this sequel coming to life.

Revenge of the Fans editor in chief Mario Robles reports that Warner Bros. is looking to get a Man of Steel sequel off the ground and ready for a 2020 release. According to Robles, the studio has put the Superman follow-up at the top of its priority list and will be moving forward despite not having a script or director confirmed yet. This is just a rumor and has not been confirmed by any official outlet.

Warner Bros. has had several DC films in development, leaving fans to speculate on what the actual status of any of the films is. Properties like Black Adam and Gotham City Sirens have been brought up as potential films to join the DCEU. But as of right now Aquaman, Shazam!, and Wonder Woman 2 are the only official titles slated for release, and with the lackluster box office performance of Justice League, the future of the DCEU is still very uncertain.

Originally fans had thought they would see Henry Cavill reprise the role of Superman in a sequel to the DC team-up film Justice League. However, the sequel to Justice League is nowhere to be found and the famed Kryptonian is on the sidelines for now. While it’s not crazy to think he could make an appearance in Aquaman or Shazam!, it would be better if a character as iconic as Superman got back on the big screen in another solo outing. With all the Superman stories left to tell and the success of SyFy’s Krypton, the world needs Man of Steel 2 as much as Metropolis needs Superman.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, and DVD.

Previous1 of 11

Batman Villains DC ComicsBatman’s been on the big screen a handful of times, but he still has so many enemies who’ve never been in a movie. I love the Joker, but man-oh-man am I tired of seeing him. Batman’s got one of the most impressive, deep rogue galleries in all of comics, and I think it’s time more of them were given the love they deserve!

Some of these characters might have been in The Lego Batman Movie (if Kite-Man was, anyone could have been) but that doesn’t really count as an introduction. Look at how well-known someone like Slipknot is now thanks to Suicide Squad. Well, all these people on the list are way better than Slipknot, and should be seen taking on a member of the Bat-Family on the big screen soon.
