Rupert Wyatt Departs ‘Gambit’

The Hollwood Reporter is reporting that Rupert Wyatt (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, The Gambler) has left the Gambit solo film. In the report THR states that various things could have factored in to Wyatt’s departure.  One of their sources claims that script changes and budgetary increases increased the filming duration. While another thinks Mardi Gras cause filming to be pushed.

Rupert Wyatt  has released a statement on his departure:

I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project, I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.

Gambit is a bit of a passion project for Tatum. He’s expressed his love for the ‘X-Man’ on several occasions and I hope they bounce back and find another great director. What do you guys think of Wyatt’s departure? Do you think its a bad omen for card wielding Cajun?

Gambit hits theaters October 7th, 2016!
