Could ‘Man of Steel’s Russell Crowe Join ‘Deadpool 2’ As Cable?

Russell Crowe is one of those names you instantly recognise. Some hate him, others adore his work; the Australian actor has crafted quite the resume in his incredible career. Crowe starred in one of 2016’s best films, The Nice Guys, alongside Ryan Gosling and under direction from Iron Man Three‘s Shane Black. Sadly, audiences did not flock to the theatres for that one, and now, we may never see a sequel to such an incredible flick. However, when God closes a door, he opens a window.

Crowe, who recently starred as Jor-El in Man of Steel, has generated headlines recently, thanks to a brief interaction with Deadpool creator, Rob Liefeld. Liefeld, who has been quite vocal about the upcoming Deadpool 2, asked the actor if he had any interest in portraying the time-travelling Mutant, Cable. Surprisingly, the actor actually responded… And he sounds like he is totally down for it.

Now, like We Got This Covered points out, there really is no point reading too deeply into this. However, it would be pretty cool, right? If The Nice Guys proved anything, its that Crowe plays a loveable asshole like no one else. Honestly? I would love to see Crowe grab the role, I think he could bring a fresh angle to the character. Of course, the hot rumour is that former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan will land the role, but with all this talk of Mister Sinister joining the X-Men films, would that not be a better suit for Brosnan?

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Crowe take on the role opposite Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool? We should receive some casting news in the coming months, so fingers crossed, Crowe gets a call.

Deadpool 2 has no release date.
