Riverdale is an upcoming teenage drama series set to follow an array of characters taken from the Archie comics series, from characters such as Cheryl Blossom, all the way up to Archie himself. Also, along with those, if CBS’s Jim Colucci gets his way, you might just be able to add Sabrina The Teenage Witch to the list.

Although largely operating outside the usual stories that involve a lot of the confirmed Riverdale characters, it’s no doubt the Sabrina is a huge part of Archie comics lore. On top of that, there’s the fact that the Sabrina The Teenage Witch comic series eventually spawned a live-action TV sitcom, leading the character to garner a fanbase of her own even outside of the comic-book world.
To add fuel to the fire, Riverdale as a whole is largely based off of the New Riverdale comic series in which Sabrina recently made an appearance alongside another beloved Archie character, Jughead, who is already confirmed to appear in the show (portrayed by Cole Sprouse). With regards to other potential tie-ins for the character, Sabrina was at the center of the Afterlife With Archie Halloween series, which could easily be looked to for Halloween episodes of Riverdale considering that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was actually also the writer of that particular comic series.

The pilot for Riverdale will debut on January 27, 2016, on The CW and stars KJ Apa as Archie, Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camilla Mendes as Veronica Lodge, and Luke Perry as Archie’s father Fred Andrews, among others.
