Former Smallville actor Sam Witwer has joined the cast as the villain, Agent Liberty, for the upcoming fourth season of The CW’s Supergirl.
News continues to break surrounding the Berlantiverse as Witwer joins Supergirl Season 4 as Agent Liberty. Witwer also played Davis Bloome, the alter ego of Doomsday, in Smallville Season 8. Witwer is not the only Smallville alum to appear on the series as Erica Durance and Laura Vandervoort have also been on both of The CW superhero shows. Witwer will join the cast as a series regular and Supergirl producers describe Agent Liberty as:
“A brilliant orator in the guise of a family man” and the scariest thing about him is how easily he can convince people that he’s right. Given that Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the DEO tend to be pro-alien integration, it’s definitely fair to assume they won’t get along with Agent Liberty and his Children of Liberty.”
The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott, David Harewood as J’onn J’onzz / Martian Manhunter, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Odette Annable as Samantha Arias / Reign, and newcomer Sam Witwer / Agent Liberty.
Supergirl returns Sunday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

SDCC TV Guide Covers Spotlight The Arrowverse, Riverdale, & Supernatural
Warner Bros. Television and TV Guide are once again teaming up for a special Comic-Con edition of TV Guide magazine with different variant covers, and once again, they don’t disappoint, as all four covers look astonishing, with the Arrowverse cover, in particular, looking very eye-catching.
The new cover features Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), White Canary (Caity Lotz), the Flash (Grant Gustin), and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) — the stars of the CW’s hit superhero shows — each with different colored filters. Joining them this year is none other than the Human Dynamo himself, Black Lightning (Cress Williams), whose own show has recently joined their ranks. But could this also be a bit of foreshadowing within the shows themselves regarding a future crossover? Only Greg Berlanti and his crew know for sure, but they’re probably not talking.
As in the past, TV Guide has shown to go all out when it comes to promoting Comic-Con, and giving the fans what they expect. And with all the surprises at this year’s Comic-Con, it looks like they’re only helping whet the fan’s appetites for what’s to come.
Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Warner Bros.’ DC projects, The CW’s hit television shows, and San Diego Comic-Con coverage when the convention begins. What announcements are you hoping to hear out of San Diego Comic-Con 2018? Share your hopes in the comments section below!
