2016 marked as the year when Stephen Strange a.k.a. Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme, made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Benedict Cumberbatch portraying the iconic hero. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, the film’s director, Scott Derrickson, was asked about what Marvel character he would like to see Stephen share the screen with down the line.
With so many to choose from, Derrickson expressed that he would love to see the Sorcerer Supreme and the Guardians of the Galaxy character Rocket Raccoon to interact. He described the two characters as being very similar which he thinks would lead to some comedic banter between the two of them.
“Oh, gosh. When I’ve been asked this in the past, honestly when I think about it I always think about … I’ll just be frank: I always think about Rocket and Doctor Strange encountering each other. They’re both sort of arrogant and verbose, always-in-the-right kind of guys and I think they would drive each other crazy in the best way.”
Cumberbatch’s character will be appearing in the third Thor installment, Thor: Ragnarok which opens in theaters on November 3. But after that, he will be joining his fellow Avengers in the third installment of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes franchise, Infinity War which started filming recently and will arrive in theaters on May 4, 2018.
Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange a.k.a. Doctor Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Benedict Wong as Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West, Benjamin Bratt as Jonathan Pangborn, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius as well as Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, will be available on Digital Download on February 14 while the Blu-Ray & DVD set will be available on February 28.
