It was announced today that Serinda Swan (Smallville, Breakout Kings, Graceland) has been cast as Medusa who will be joining Game of Thrones’ Iwan Rhoen and Hell on Wheels’ Anson Mount who are playing Maximus the Mad and Black Bolt respectively on The Inhumans. Last fall, ABC and Marvel made the announcement that Black Bolt and the Royal Family would be making their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the form of the television series The Inhumans which got picked up straight to series.
“Medusa is the Queen of the Inhumans and wife of Black Bolt — his most trusted advisor, a fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers.”
Jeph Loeb, Marvel TV president and executive producer of the series, said this about Swan being cast as Medusa.
“Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful.”
Iron Fist’s Scott Buck, will be the show-runner and executive producer on the series, also added this about the casting of Swan.
“Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”
The first two episodes will be directed by Roel Reine (Admiral, The Delivery) and shown in IMAX theaters during the first two weeks of September. The Inhumans marks as one of several upcoming shows from Marvel TV. Iron Fist’s Scott Buck will be the show-runner and executive producer on the series.
“The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. “Marvel’s The Inhumans” will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.”
Marvel’s The Inhumans premieres on Tuesday, September 26 on ABC – no official timeslot has been given yet.
