One of the most iconic Inhumans characters is Medusa, who is the wife of Black Bolt and Queen of Attilan. Serinda Swan will be bringing Medusa to live in the upcoming Marvel series The Inhumans which is set to premiere this fall on ABC. For those who are not familiar with Medusa should know that she has the ability to use her hair as a weapon, as she is able to control its movement.
Swan recently chatted with Screen Rant during a set visit where she talked about how Medusa’s hair will work on the show. According to Swan, it was definitely a challenge to learn how to shoot those scenes from a technical standpoint.
“One of the cool things with Medusa obviously is her hair and learning how to use it through the wig, but then also through the CGI. So there are moments where you are in fights or intense situations and you have to know how to use your face at the same time that you are using your hair, so there has been a lot of really amazing scenes where I have to sit down and go, “Okay. If it was my arm, how would I do it if it was my arm? What would my face do?” And then have the duality between the two because it’s sort of another appendage for her.”
Swan also talked about the show displaying Medusa’s hair emotions like in the comics. The actress confirmed that we’ll definitely get to see the hair have that function just like in the comics whenever she would show certain emotions.
“Yes. You will definitely see her hair have moods. There will be some moody hair. You know because that’s her! You know, it’s the same when you are in an argument, your fists curl. When you are like meeting someone and you’re nervous, your hands sweat. It’s her. And it is all of that. And it’s a little less when she is out in public because she is like, “ I am queen.” because it would be slightly distracting if I’m doing, if I was like this during the whole interview, you guys would be like, “What is going on?” So she controls it when she is out in public, but you’ll see a much more intimate side with her and her hair with Black Bolt.”
“After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.”
Marvel’s The Inhumans stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Iwan Rhoen as Maximus the Mad, Ken Leung as Karnak, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Mike Moh as Triton, Sonya Balmores as Auran and Ellen Woglom, is set to premiere on Friday, September 29 with a two-hour premiere at 8 PM on ABC.
