Two new cast members are officially joining the second season of Luke Cage. Marvel announced today that Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis have been cast as John McIver and Tilda Johnson respectively.
“John McIver: a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance.
Tilda Johnson: a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her.”
A few months ago, a character breakdown revealed that the series was casting “BYRON” and “TAMARA”. It was speculated that “BYRON” was a cover name for John. Even though there were speculations that “TAMARA” was possibly going to be Luke’s sister, it’s probably safe to assume that “TAMARA” was a cover name for Tilda.
Hardcore Marvel fans will recognize John and Tilda as the comic book characters Bushmaster and Nightshade respectively. Executive producer/showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker shared his excitement about Shakir and Dennis joining the series in an official statement.
“I can’t wait for audiences to see the compelling paces we put both Mustafa and Gabrielle through. From the moment you see each of them on screen, I feel they will be powerful additions to the world of Marvel and Harlem’s Luke Cage.”
Luke Cage Season 2 is set to come out sometime in 2018 on Netflix.
