‘Shazam’: Darla Dudley Actress Celebrates First Day Of Filming

Shazam! Fan Poster ElectricYou may know Faithe Herman from NBC’s tear-jerking drama This Is Us. However, the young and remarkably talented actor will soon be featured in the upcoming Shazam! News of her casting is fairly recent and it looks like she has already gotten to work.

Herman took to Twitter  yesterday to announce that she has completed her first day of shooting Shazam!:

It should be noted that the actor’s Twitter account is in fact managed by her mother. However, we are sure the sentiments are that of the actor herself. Herman will be playing Darla Dudley in Shazam!. While we are still unaware of what that character’s role will be, the character is one of the five children who can unite to turn into Shazam in the Flashpoint comic series. Perhaps we will see some hints to a heroic future for Dudley in the upcoming film.

Are you excited to see Darla Dudley when Shazam! hits theatres? Let us know in the comments below!

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out.  In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard.  Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them!  Can he fly?  Does he have X-ray vision?  Can he shoot lightning out of his hands?  Can he skip his social studies test?  Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child.  But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Ron Cephas Jones and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana.

Shazam! is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.

Shazam DC ComicsShazam may look like a Superman rip-off, but he’s so much more than that. Created way back in 1939, Captain Marvel (now referred to solely as Shazam) is an incredibly complex character. After a teenager named Billy Batson stumbles upon a Wizard called Shazam, his whole life changes. Granted magical powers, Billy transforms into a superhero but keeps his childish personality whenever he’s fighting evil.

Chosen to serve as a defender of justice for the Wizard, Billy is given a wide range of powers. Whenever Billy yells the wizard’s name, he transforms into the powerful Captain Marvel and rushes off to fight evil. A lot has changed for the character over his 77 year history, but he still has so much more room to grow! With Shazam! hitting theaters next year, the character’s popularity will start to grow and it’s likely he’ll receive a new comic book series soon, so you might as well start learning everything you can about the character now.
